This Pass/Fail course offers detailed explanations for new attorneys on how to start and manage a family-based immigration law practice. The focus will be on creating and managing the legal practice, with an emphasis on family-based "benefits" type cases such as Marriage/Sibling/Parent/Child Petitions. Other areas of the law include Affidavits of Support, Adjustment of Status, Consular Processing and other basic immigration principles. The course also includes information about choosing an office space, dealing with technology, marketing, choosing a niche area of immigration law, communicating with clients, drafting contracts, where to look for answers to questions, how to track a case, ethics, billing, organizing a file, recommended professional associations, and other practical guides.

Students will also learn how to complete a Spousal Visa Petition from start to finish
