DRAFTING CIVIL TRIAL DOCUMENTS
(LAWW-4012) - 1 UNIT

While trial participation is very much about oral advocacy: opening statements, examining witnesses, entering evidence and oral objections, this course will review the lesser known but equally important side of trial work, required written advocacy. In preparation for and in the course of trial, attorneys draft a variety of documents: jury instructions, motions in limine, trial briefs, exhibit and witness lists, and other joint statements. This course will review the court rules setting the parameters for drafting and submission, strategy decision in determining which arguments to include, and provide opportunities to draft some of these documents in a simulated civil case.
