LAW AND ANTHROPOLOGY
(LAWW-4004) - 1 UNIT

This course will provide an introduction to the anthropological perspective on law and legal institutions. Anthropology is essentially comparative, cross-cultural and critical. Our study will include both theoretical and ethnographic works, including observations of indigenous law and the imposition and reception of law in colonial and post-colonial settings. We will also consider laws affecting museum practices and the control of anthropological material.
