(LAWM-4010) - 2 UNITS

Local and State Government Law is complex particularly as it relates to the Office of the City Attorney, Attorney General, and those in private practice that specialize in representing public entities. This course focuses on laws relating to municipal and state government and its various departments and agencies. As an example, the course will focus in the areas of land use development, constitutional rights, environmental laws, lobbying, Government Tort Claims Act, Public Records Act, the Brown Act and other bodies of laws that govern over local municipalities and state government. The course will also study the impact of politics in the creation and implementation of these bodies of laws for governmental entities.
