ELECTION LAW/LAW OF THE POLITICAL PROCESS
(LAWM-4001) - 4 UNITS

Election laws, constantly in the news and the courts, are the foundation on which all of the rest of our legal system is built. This course discusses the central legal challenges of the American democratic process, both old and brand new. Students will confront issues including the distribution of political power based on race and partisanship, rules for who can vote and how, and the campaign finance system. No background in politics or political science is required. Students will be expected to participate actively in class discussions.
