CLASS ACTIONS IN THE ERA OF COVID-19
(LAWJ-4100) - 2 UNITS

While the COVID-19 pandemic is unfolding, courts are closing and law firms are transitioning online, class actions related to the coronavirus are growing. Several class actions have already been filed against banks and financial institutions, employers, governments and public officials, insurers, manufacturers and sellers of products with medical, sanitation, and hygiene applications, public companies (sued by shareholders in reference to statements and omissions concerning the impact of COVID-19), cruises, etc., and class actions and mass actions are still expected to expand to more and more industries, jurisdictions, and areas of the law. The seminar will examine some of the COVID-19 pending class actions and prepare the students to address the new expected COVID-19 class and mass actions and the law firms? needs in relation to such litigation.
