FUNDAMENTALS OF SOLO LITIGATION

This class provides a comprehensive overview of the types of cases and issues that an attorney handles as a solo practitioner or while working in a small firm. The fundamentals of traffic and D.U.I. cases are discussed, as well as common civil cases like unlawful detainers and civil harassment motions. Also covered is the basic criminal and civil procedure that commonly arises. Students participate in an interactive jury selection exercise, and draft and argue pre-trial writs that are typically employed.The class also provides a comprehensive overview of the types of cases an attorney can handle to satisfy the State of California's expectation for providing pro bono services under Business and Professions Code section 6073.
