MEDIATION - CLASSIC & LITIGATION MODELS - NUTS & BOLTS

This basic mediation skills course focuses on mediation theory, process and skills. A significant amount of class time will be spent developing mediation skills, once basic process and theory is understood. Mediation skills are generally developed through role plays one day per week. The second half of class is focused on mediating the litigated case from both the mediator and the attorney perspective. Legal aspects of mediation will also be covered at an intermediate/advanced level. Students who satisfy the necessary requirements of the California Dispute Resolutions Programs Act will receive a mediation certificate required for mediating in community and court programs throughout California.
