LEGAL RESEARCH FUNDAMENTALS FOR THE LITIGATOR
(LAWJ-4041) - 1 UNIT

This course provides targeted legal research instruction for students interested in a litigation career. Students will - depending on their particular interests - follow a single case file involving either criminal, intellectual property, or general civil litigation. Students will learn a different aspect of legal research relating to litigation each week, including research in primary sources, advanced search techniques, docket research, and understanding court rules. This course satisfies the research requirement for the criminal justice, intellectual property, public interest, and entertainment law concentrations, but is open to all students. Grading is P/NP, based on completion of research projects. Classes will take place during the first seven weeks of the semester only.
