INTRODUCTION TO ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION
(LAWJ-1011) - 3 UNITS

This course will introduce students to arbitration and mediation, the two primary modes of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). It will provide a broad survey of the law, policy debates, and practice-based challenges attending each process, and situate them in the broader landscape of dispute processing both in the United States and abroad. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a limited number of ungraded simulations designed to help develop effective ADR advocacy skills. The course will also provide an overview of, and satisfy the requirements for, selected upper-division ADR electives, clinics, and competitions.
