CIVIL PROCEDURE
(LAWJ-1001) - 5 UNITS

This course introduces the rules and principles governing procedure in civil litigation. Topics include personal jurisdiction; subject-matter jurisdiction; and choice of law in the federal courts. The course also focuses on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and on the California Code of Civil Procedure where appropriate, and introduces such topics as pleading; joinder of claims and parties; summary adjudication; and the law of prior adjudication, including claim and issue preclusion.
