INTERNATIONAL COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION AND THE CISG
(LAWG-4095) - 2 UNITS

This course will provide an introduction to the law and practice of international commercial arbitration. It is a required course for students on the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Team but is open to all others interested in the subject matter. Lectures on international arbitral and judicial procedure, and on the Convention on the International Sale of Goods (which has to do with international contracts/sales), will be combined with hands-on practical exercises based on this year's Vis Competition problem. Students will be assessed on short homework assignments, a quiz, and a written arbitration brief. Regular class meetings will stop approximately three weeks prior to the end of the semester in order to afford time for oral argument moots. For this reason, some make-up classes will be scheduled toward the beginning of the semester.
