EMERGING ISSUES IN ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENERGY LAWAL AND ENERGY LAW
(LAWE-4016) - 2 UNITS

This class will explore the rapidly-changing field of environmental law and policy, including pivotal issues in the synergistic relationship between the energy sector and the environment. Our legal analysis will range from the global to the local. We will cover the growing law of climate change, including recent U.S. Supreme Court cases and new developments in statutory interpretation (as statutory law in this area remains static), regulations, permitting policies, litigation, and the use of law to influence individual behavior. We will also cover evolving areas of law such as the regulation of hydraulic fracturing, California?s water supply and drought, and siting for green energy projects.
