NATURAL RESOURCES LAW SEMINAR
(LAWE-4012) - 2 UNITS

This seminar will explore the theory and practice of natural resources law. Students will first examine the legal mechanisms by which natural resources are divided in the United States. They will use the examination of those mechanisms to determine whether there is a unified field of law that can be termed ?natural resources law? and, if so, what its principal features are. In the second part of the course, students will write briefs and participate in a hearing concerning a real and ongoing dispute over a natural resource. Types of natural resources likely to be covered include timber, oil, water, marine life, geothermal, and public lands.
