BAIL-TO-JAIL: THE CRIMINAL ADJUDICATORY PROCESS
(LAWD-4030) - 3 UNITS

This class will explore the processes of the criminal justice system from bail to jail. Specifically, it will cover: prosecutorial discretion, grand juries and preliminary hearings, bail and pretrial release, discovery, plea bargaining and guilty pleas, speedy trial rights, right to counsel, trial rights, sentencing, cruel and unusual punishment, double jeopardy and habeas corpus. The class will involve both textbook student and in-class simulation exercises.
