FEDERAL COURTS AND SECTION 1983 LITIGATION

This is an advanced litigation course intended to prepare the students for litigation in federal courts, with emphasis on the challenges that Section 1983 actions present. Thus, the course explores the federal court doctrines that govern litigation in federal courts, focusing on justiciability, abstention, the Eleventh Amendment and sovereign immunity, the law of Section 1983, and appellate jurisdiction.

Students who have taken or are taking Federal Courts (LAWC 4012) are ineligible to take this course.
