INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT ARBITRATION

This course examines the realm of International Investment Law and the legal frameworks governing cross-border investments between private investors and sovereign States. Participants will explore key principles, treaties, and investment arbitration that underpin international investment relationships. Topics include the principles developed in protecting foreign investments, the role of bilateral and multilateral investment treaties, the mechanisms for resolving investment disputes, mainly, the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), and challenges and controversies in investor-State dispute settlement.
